Ayurveda or Ayurveda is a traditional Indian healing art that to this day has many practitioners in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. In Asia, especially in India, Ayurveda is also scientifically taught as a healing method and accepted by the population.
Why do some women enjoy luxurious hair growth while others don't? Genetics play an important role in the type of hair we're born with. Regardless of the type of hair we are naturally endowed with, however, it is possible to enjoy a thick and healthy head of hair by using a few traditional tips from ancient Ayurvedic practice to keep the hair on instead of to lose them.
- Diet is one of the most important aspects of healthy hair; both are closely related. A diet high in leafy green vegetables, fresh fruits, dairy products, oily fish, and nuts and seeds will help maintain the nutrients necessary for healthy hair.
- Stress can lead to hair loss, hair pigment loss, and health problems. It is not easy to get rid of the stress in traumatic life situations, but we have to try. Meditation, breathing and relaxation techniques, and exercise can help reduce stress. Get involved in certain hobbies like gardening, sewing, volunteering, etc. When we take the time to do things for others we tend to forget about our own problems, this leads to a decrease in the level of stress we are working under.
- Refined foods and canned foods cannot help you stay healthy because they are contaminated with all of the chemicals, other additives, and preservatives. These foods do not have any natural nutrition available to the body. Avoid icy drinks as they inhibit digestion and the absorption of nutrients.
- There are certain ingredients that you can add to cooking that are considered hair-friendly. Turmeric, black pepper, and cumin are some of the spices that you can add. Try toasting spices and grinding them into a powder; add it to yogurt for daily consumption and, ultimately, healthy hair.
- There are a number of Ayurvedic herbs known for their hair conditioning properties, stress relieving abilities, and balancing effects. Brahmi or Gotu Kola, Eclipta Alba and many others are available in Ayurvedic alternative medicine clinics and stores.
- Massage the scalp with warm oil at least twice a week to stimulate and moisturize the scalp. Coconut, almond, or olive oil are good choices. Apply the oil by massaging it gently into the scalp, then let it sit for a few hours before using an all-natural herbal shampoo to remove the oil. Massage of the head with oil has the added benefit that it also helps to relax.
